Parking and Navigating Downtown Myrtle Beach

Are you finding it difficult to find parking and getting around in downtown Myrtle Beach while on vacation? Read ahead for a few helpful tips to help you navigate the main access roads and parking areas.

US 17 Business is the main road that runs parallel to Ocean Boulevard and the coast, and at one point, the road blends with N. Kings Highway. Although there are many access roads to the Beach Road, here are four main access points: 21st Avenue North, Mr. Joe White Avenue, Highway 501 and 3rd Avenue South.

There are many public parking spaces on the streets, in public lots and on street ends with beach access. Parking meters are in effect beginning on March 1st through October 31st and are enforced from 9 a.m. until 12 a.m., seven days a week. Vehicles displaying a valid handicapped, Purple Heart, Disabled American Veteran or Medal of Honor license, or a valid and official handicapped hangtag may park for free at any public parking meter. Download this Parking Meter Map to see locations, prices and time limits around Ocean Boulevard. Additional information about public parking meters such as rates and payment methods can be found on the City of Myrtle Beach  website. The Pavilion Parking Garage, located on the corner of 9th Avenue North and Kings Highway, is also available for paid public parking.

There are also private parking lots that charge their own rates along Ocean Boulevard and on the streets behind. Visit Boardwalk Parking to get details about location and pricing for parking lots they have available.

* Beware of the many private parking lots that are reserved for resorts on both sides of Ocean Boulevard. They are monitored and if you do not have a designated parking pass on your dashboard, your car may be towed at your expense.
